With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I thought I would share some healthy V-DAY inspiration. If you want to skip the refined sugar, processed flour, nasty colours and flavours this Valentines Day, this is where you should start. These quick and simple ideas will have your loved one feeling very special indeed – no roses, chocolates or fluffy teddies required.

COOKIE CUTTER FUN!

If you were looking for a little something to make your Valentine’s day extra special, I would have to recommend a heart shaped cookie cutter. Available from most kitchen stores and of course online, these simple and effective tools will make your Valentine’s day gift-giving a whole lot easier.

LUNCHBOX AFFECTION  Healthy Valentines Day
Apple Heart Cut-Outs
I think this is the cutest idea for school lunch boxes or a quick and simple way to incorporate some love into your partner’s lunch without them knowing. Using your cut-out tool, cut an identical heart shape from both a red and a green apple. Switch the heart cut-outs from one coloured apple to the next and you’re done!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Hearts
I remember when I was first introduced to ‘Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups’. I was working in Miami and they had a jar of Reese Mini’s sitting on the table in the agency. The girls warned me that if I dared to open the wrapper, my life was about to change. I took the risk and it was there I fell in love with the chocolate peanut butter combo.

WHEN THINGS HEAT UP

Pink flavoured ice-cubes
I saw this picture on Pinterest and fell in love (no pun intended). This is a fast and effective way to add a special touch to a glass of champagne or sparkling water on Valentine’s Day. Here the creator has used pomegranate seeds however, raspberries also make a delicious inclusion! Simply add the fruit to the ice-cube trays after you fill them with water and freeze until they are set.

Chocolate and Date Balls
Don’t forget my Cacao Energy Balls, Snickers Balls and Mint Choc Chip Balls. These are the perfect ‘date-night’ movie snack.
